My New Release & Random Facts!

Hello, creative writers! Today I want to share with you my newest novel and some fun behind-the-scenes facts about it πŸ™‚ But first, let me tell you…

It was a joy to write this book, but there were a couple of times during the writing of this novel when I thought “I can’t do this.” I got stuck and despondent and discouraged. That’s normal!

If you get stuck in your writing, stick to it. Don’t give up. You CAN do this!

My New Release & Fun Random Facts

My new release is A Firefighter Hero for Her, a clean Southern romance and cozy mystery.

Bonnie Hart is trying to get her life back on track at age twenty-eight, but a series of arsons threaten her plans–and her life.

When the handsome Detective Brandon Wells arrives to solve the case, sparks fly, and life gets complicated for the two of them as they grow closer together.

Hearts and lives are on the line in this clean Southern romance.

Kindle ebook ~ Paperback ~ Nook (soon) ~ and other ebook sellers.

Fun Facts!

1. This started as a school project

On one of my creative writing classes, I had to start a novel. I didn’t need to finish it, I just needed to do about 10 or 15 pages. The idea came first thing in the morning, and I wrote it on my notes app:

Edited Nov. 14, 2017

The beginning has since changed, but once I began the novel, I just had to finish it! πŸ™‚ I received good feedback from other students, which helped motivate me.

I worked on it off and on during college, between pop quizzes and term papers.

And now it’s finished! 😍

2. This is my first adult (non-YA) novel

This is my first try at an adult novel. Not “adult” as in dirty πŸ˜‚ but “adult” as in non-YA.

The protagonists are in their late 20’s and 30’s, and there is no high school in sight!

Overall, I had a lot of fun doing adult romance & cozy mystery, and I’m sure I will be doing that again soon.

3. I had to Google burning houses and other incriminating things…

So this book is a romance, but it does have a cozy mystery element to it ~ the issue with the arsonist. In the back of my mind I knew that fires were different depending on the material being burned.

The story is set in the South, based on where I grew up, so I had to Google mobile homes burning.

I wasn’t sure if the smoke would be white, grey, or black. Then, as I watched burning houses on YouTube, one after the other, I thought to myself, “Well… this is quite strange.” LoL

4. The characters initially looked way different.

I am a self-published author, and I do everything on my own. I do have the help of friends and family to read/edit my books, but I basically do all else, cover to cover. So the funny thing is, my characters initially looked different, but…

I based my characters on the only free image I found and liked.

πŸ˜‚ I know that’s silly, but I just loved the body language of the photo I found. I also loved that they looked not like beautiful models, but like real, down to earth people. So, my characters became them πŸ™‚

I am super happy to be sharing this novel with you, and I hope you check it out πŸ₯° If you do, I hope you get absorbed into the small town of Ponybridge, Louisiana the same way I did ❀️

Take care and thanks so much for following this blog,

      1. Good question.

I always publish through Smashwords (which distributes to big companies like BN – Nook) and so far I’m very happy with them. I do my paperbacks through Amazon’s direct publishing, and I’m also happy with their quality.

I guess the only one I’ve avoided is Wattpad, but not because of bad reviews. The most successful writing seems to be fanfiction on Wattpad, and that’s not what I write.

  1. Congratulations on completing your first non-YA novel! I enjoyed getting some behind-the-scenes nuggets about the process of creating it. I’d never heard of anyone based the looks of the characters on the cover image!

  2. Hey, Yari! Congrats on your new novel! As chances would have it, I am currently almost done with a mystery thriller novel concerning a woman and a man who is interrogating her for arson–! What are the chances?? Super cool.
Also, I wanted you to know that I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award! πŸ˜€ (Don’t feel any pressure to participate, just wanted you to know.) πŸ™‚
